Most trades businesses we meet run on three separate things: a website with a contact form, an inbox where the enquiries land, and a job app where the work is quoted and scheduled. Someone copies each enquiry from one to the next.
The job apps are good at what they do. Here is what the main ones charge, a worked example for a small firm, and what changes when the website and the jobs are one system you own.
What ServiceM8 charges
From ServiceM8's UK pricing page, checked on 16 October 2026. Prices are before VAT, and every paid plan has unlimited users.
- Free: one user and 30 jobs a month.
- Starter: £25 a month for 50 jobs.
- Growing: £59 a month for 150 jobs.
- Premium: £119 a month for 500 jobs.
The full list is on ServiceM8's pricing page.
What Tradify charges
From Tradify's UK pricing page, checked on 16 October 2026. Prices are for each user, each month. The page does not say whether VAT is included.
- Lite: £34 per user.
- Pro: £37 per user.
- Plus: £44 per user.
The full list is on Tradify's pricing page.
Jobber is also popular. Its UK page lists prices in US dollars, starting at $49 a month for one user without a commitment. See Jobber's pricing page.
A worked example
A landscaping firm with three people and about 80 jobs a month.
- Tradify Pro: three users at £37 is £111 a month, or £1,332 a year.
- ServiceM8: 80 jobs is over the Starter limit, so Growing at £59 a month, or £708 a year before VAT.
Neither price includes the website, and neither changes the copying. The enquiry still arrives by email and someone still types it in.
What the apps do well
Scheduling, invoices, a phone app for the crew and links to accounting software. They are mature products, and they cost little to start. Most can give you a request form to put on your website, but the form and the customer record live in their system.
What changes when it is one system you own
- The enquiry is the start of the job. What a customer sends from your website becomes the quote, then the job, then the booked day, with nobody typing it in again.
- Quotes work the way you price. Built from your own services and the way you already price work, not an app's template.
- No cut of your jobs. Nobody takes a share of the work that comes in.
- The customer list is yours. Enquiries, quotes, jobs and history sit in a system you own.
For Treetop Gardens in South Tyneside, an enquiry sent from the plan of a garden on their website gets an email reply straight away. The quote is written from the services the customer asked for, accepted online, booked with a date and a crew, and followed by a thank-you with a link to leave a review. You can follow one job through it in the Treetop Gardens case study.
When it starts to make sense
- Enquiries are copied by hand from your inbox into the job app.
- Your quotes do not fit the app's templates.
- You pay for each person on the team, or keep hitting a job limit.
- You want to own the customer list and the job history outright.
If none of those sound like you, there may be nothing to change yet. If you are not sure, ask for a free website review. You get a written reply within two working days, and if your current setup is fine, we will say so.
We build websites and quote and job systems for trades and home services in the North East. We never take a cut of your jobs, and the system we build is yours.
